The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (“CMS”) has announced the 2025 premiums, deductibles and coinsurance amounts for the Medicare Part A and Part B programs.
Medicare Part A covers inpatient hospital, skilled nursing facility, hospice, inpatient rehabilitation, and some home health care services. Medicare Part B covers physician services, outpatient hospital services, certain home health services, durable medical equipment, and certain other medical and health services not covered by Medicare Part A.
The Medicare Part A deductible for inpatient hospital expenses will be $1,676 in 2025 (up from $1,632 in 2024). The Part A inpatient hospital deductible covers beneficiaries’ share of costs for the first 60 days of Medicare-covered inpatient hospital care in a benefit period. For the 61st through 90th day of hospitalization, the coinsurance cost for beneficiaries will be $419 per day (up from $408 in 2024), while hospital stays over 90 days will cost $838 per day (up from $816 in 2024). Daily coinsurance for the 21st to 100th day in a skilled nursing facility will cost beneficiaries $209.50 in 2025 (up from $204 in 2024).
The standard monthly premium for most Medicare Part B enrollees will be $185 for 2025 (up from $174.70 in 2024). As required by the Medicare Modernization Act, single beneficiaries with annual incomes over $106,000, and married couples with annual incomes over $212,000, will pay higher Medicare Part B premiums, based on a sliding scale.
The annual deductible for all Medicare Part B beneficiaries is $257 in 2025, an increase of $17 from the annual deductible of $240 in 2024.
Beginning in 2023, individuals whose full Medicare coverage ended 36 months after a kidney transplant and who do not have certain other types of insurance coverage can elect to continue Medicare Part B coverage of immunosuppressive drugs by paying a premium. For 2025, the standard immunosuppressive drug premium is $110.40.
