Roberta Casper Watson, as head of the Welfare Benefits Department, will join Senior Associate Barry Newman, Associate Alex Olsen and Senior Benefits Consultant Virginia Peabody in the Welfare Benefits Department. The Best Lawyers in America has recognized Ms. Watson on their list for Employee Benefit/ERISA law since 1995, and for 2012, it named her the Tampa Lawyer of the Year for Employee Benefits (ERISA) Law. Ms. Watson has been active in the American Bar Association, where she has been Chair of both the Tax Section Employee Benefits Committee and the Health Law Section Employee Benefits Interest Group. She also was Chair of the ABA’s Joint Committee on Employee Benefits. She is a Charter Fellow of the American College of Employee Benefits Counsel.
Ms. Watson is currently Secretary for The Harvard Club of the West Coast of Florida. She served on the CHIPRA Task Force created by the U.S. Departments of Labor and Health and Human Services. She was also on the board of Florida’s District Six Community Health Purchasing Alliance in the 1990s. For many years, she was on the board of Northside Community Mental Health Center, and was its president in 1999-2001.
